I am still always learning!

In January 2014 I took a new job at Walsh University.

So I have been learning for the past 3 weeks.  This job is much closer to my home so I hope to have some more time to post to my blogs.

Kendal Ohio

This week in my learning half hours I perused the website www.kendalohio.com.  Kendal is the name of the settlement that was in my hometown before it became the City of Massillon, Ohio.

Take some time to peruse the site. I have been to the cemetary that is being restored for the 200th Anniversity of the Kendal.

My parents live not far from the original settlement and near where the Charity Rotch School was built.

It is so nice to know that Massillon encourages the renewal and restoration of the history of our founders.

Prezi

My first learning half hour was actually an hour.  I took a seminar on how to use an online presentation system called Prezi.  www.prezi.com

The software lives on the internet and you can make quick and easy presentations that you can show anywhere, anytime.

The premise is a big canvas and the information is put in frames and then you decide how to link them together.  Check out a demo of how Prezi can be used for teachers and educators.

A few things to keep in mind, the free version does not have a downloadable client .  If you are a teacher or education you can have free private Prezi's.  If you are not, your Prezi's are public, so make sure that you use licensed or non-copyright material in your presentation.

Renaissance Man

I came across this short article by accident in the New York Times, The Renaissance Man which prompted me to consider creating a 1/2 an hour a day to refresh myself or learn something new.

This blog will be a diary of what I do and learn through out this process.  I decided that this time would be the best to start, during the Lenten season when I will be trying to make some sacrifices and spend my time more usefully.

I anticipate you may see articles about me struggling at a new skill or notes about something I read on a variety of topics.

Enjoy!
